New Autism Awareness Sock for April!

Autism Awareness Month is approaching quickly, and we have an exciting announcement to make! We’re partnering with Talk About Curing Autism (TACA) to release our first cause-specific sock. Our Talk About It sock features a puzzle piece design. The puzzle piece is an easily-recognized symbol for the autism community. Whether you have a personal experience with autism or not, wearing our autism awareness sock is a great way to express that this cause is important to you.

According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention in 2016, 1 in 68 children are diagnosed with autism. TACA stands by these families to not only help them face an autism diagnosis, but work toward finding viable treatment options for each unique child. Many families feel alone and discouraged when they learn that someone they love is affected by autism. TACA connects these families to one another so they can work through low points and celebrate milestones.

Lisa Ackerman, TACA’s founder, had a personal experience with autism that sparked the formation of the organization. Her son, Jeff, was diagnosed with autism in 1999. The Ackermans started a small parent support group in their own home. These meetings focused primarily on sharing information and research. These living room meeting expanded, and now, TACA serves around 55,000 families across the US with 32 chapters.

When you buy the Talk About It sock, you can give financially to TACA while showing emotional support to families affected by autism. We’ll donate a dollar for every pair of socks sold. During Autism Awareness Month, encouraging these families is important, even if it’s in small ways.  Each time you put on your autism awareness socks, you’re sending a message that people facing this issue are not alone. When we all stand together, we can make the world a better place.

Awearables is proud to support TACA’s work of providing education, support and empowerment for families as they seek effective treatment for autism.

When you purchase Awearables and select TACA as the nonprofit organization at checkout, Awearables will donate $1 to TACA for every item you purchase.
